Born at Midnight – C.C. Hunter

Did you know that one night could literally change someone’s life? It happens to Kylie Galen, who was at the wrong party at the wrong time. Her mother ends up sending her to Shadow Falls, a camp for troubled teens. Within a couple of hours of arriving, Kylie notices that the other campers aren’t just troubled. Here at this camp, vampires, werewolves, shapeshifters, witches and fairies live side by side. Kylie is pretty sure the doesn’t belong here. AT ALL. Okay, so she never felt a hundred percent normal, but being a paranormal freak..? Nope, Kylie is not having that.

Everyone at the Shadow Falls insist Kylie belongs with them, because no one is here without a very good reason (aka, being paranormal). To make her life even more complicated, meet Derek and Lucas. Derek is a half-fae who is determined to be her boyfriend. Lucas is a hot werewolf with whom Kylie shares a secret past. Derek and Lucas couldn’t be more different, but they both have a firm hold on her heart.

Even though Kylie start doubting everything, one thing becomes more clearer everyday she is at Shadow Fall. She belongs with those paranormal freaks.

I noticed this book on a bookshelf tour from a booktuber (duh). I really loved the shininess of the cover. It for sure was an eye catcher.
When I spotted in Waterstone’s on Piccadilly Circus during my visit in London, I just had to get it!

The first thing I noticed when I started reading was the pleasant writing style of C.C. Hunter. Even the most predictable things weren’t bothersome because of her lovely way of writing. You were more like “whatever”, instead of “ugh, you could so see this coming!”, which made me appreciate the book tons more. I myself hate books that are predictable, it just takes the fun out of reading the book, but this book made me see that differently!

Yes, this book also contains the classic love triangle that is common in pretty much every YA book. But once again, C.C. Hunter wrote it down so it wasn’t annoying! I actually enjoyed the way this book portrayed the love triangle!

I may or may not have fallen in love with the writing style of C.C. Hunter, she just made this book so perfect! I have to admit I didn’t notice a flaw. So for me, this book doesn’t have any!

I cannot wait to read the rest of the series! I ended up loving this book and being super hyped for the rest of the series. So of course this book had to get a 5 out of 5 star rating!
