‘One of Us is Lying’ follows the story of what happends when five strangers walk into detention, and only four walk out alive.
Pay close attention and you might solve this.
On Monday afternoon, five strangers at Bayview High walk into detention.
Bronwyn, the brain, is Yale-bound and never breaks a rule.
Addy, the beauty, is the picture-perfect home-coming princess.
Nate, the criminal, is already on probation for dealing
Cooper, the athlete, is the all-star baseball pitcher.
Simon, the outcast, is the creator of Bayview High’s notorious gossip app.
But Simon is the one that didn’t make it out of the classroom alive. Before the end of detention, he’s dead. But his death wasn’t an accident, according to the investigators.
On Monday, he died.
On Tuesday he planned to post juicy reveals about the other four who were in detention, which makes them all suspects of his murder. Or are they the perfect patsies for a killer who’s still on the loose?
Everyone has secrets, right?
What really matters is how far you would go to protect them.
So, I got this book thanks to Netgalley, but life caught up, and I totally forgot to download it! And I feel so bad, because it is an amazing book!
We have four very different main characters, and they only know each other by face.
Then, when they’re all together in detention, Simon dies under suspicious circumstances. All four are shocked to say the least, but also a bit relieved. Simon wrote gossip on his app. No one knew how he got all the info, but everyone knew that what Simon wrote was true. And he could ruin your life with just a few words.
But the police investigators have their suspicions and Bronwyn, Addy, Nate and Cooper are all suspects.
But instead of letting the police do all the work, they start their own secret investigation. To prove their innocence. But are they all so innocent as they appear?
I was so hyped for this book, and it lived up to all my expectations! It kept me on the edge of my seat throughout the whole book. I loved that you as a reader get your own suspects, you kinda feel like an investigator yourself! And I sometimes felt like I want to prove the innocence of those who I thought were innocent (and the other way around). But I also loved the fact that it was never sure who was completely innocent! That way you’re in the dark until the ‘big reveal’.
This book just sucks you in to the story, and it is not really a contemporary as in, the ones you want to read during the summer. It is a perfectly fine read during those cold and snowy winters!
You want to start your own investigation after reading my review? Then what are you waiting for! Go and buy this amazing book, with character who you may or may not trust!
So yeah, I highly recommend this book if you’re in for drama, thrillers, and things that aren’t what they seem!
I gave this book 5 out of 5 stars.
