Last month was the launch of the first ever box by DiversityBear. The company was created by the owner to combine her love for bookish subscription boxes and the fight for diversity. Every box contains a YA release and merch from diverse books.
I loved the concept described above, so I had to order the first box, which was called “Power of Words”.
I think we’ve all had this moment.
A moment, where, if you find the right words, everything can change.
Whether that moment happens with your best friend, when you finally tell them you’re in love with them, or you come out to a family member, or when you’re talking about equal rights with someone who disagrees with you, these moments could end up completely different, based on the words you use to explain yourself.
There is a lot of pressure to find the right words in that moment, and it’s a lot harder than most would admit. That is why I’ve decided to dedicate the first theme of Diversitybear to this. To speaking up when it most matters, and using your voice the right way.
That was what was described for our first box! It said it would be perfect for fans of ‘The Hate U Give’ and ‘When Dimple met Rishi’ (I haven’t read both whoops).
The original plan was for the boxes to be send out at the end of January, however there was some delay, but Marjo (owner of DiversityBear) send us all an email to tell us about it, which is very much appreciated! I ended up receiving the box on the 9th of February. And I was so hyped!
The first thing I found when opening the box was the spoilercard with gorgeous cover art. I always skip over these, since I don’t want to get spoiled!
The second thing I spotted was this gorgeous bookish flower! Which is created from book pages and it such a huge eye catcher! The bookish flower was created by Michelle_Reads.a
The next thing I found was tea called ‘Girl Power’, and since my cold is gone, I can finally smell it! It smells really sweet, but I have yet to taste it. The tea is from A Bookish Flickering.
We also got a bookmark with a quote from ‘The Hate U Give’. I actually bought that book two days before this box, and it felt like destiny or so? The bookmark is gorgeous and feels quite sturdy. It was created by KingdomOfStories.
We also got an adorable quote card. The quote is from ‘When Dimple met Rishi’ and the art is simple yet so gorgeous! Is was created by WordWoonders.
The last bookish item in the box in the most adorable sized candle. It is called ‘Punch a Nazi’ and smells really sweet! I love the size of it, it is so adorable! It is created by RomeMadeCandles.
And of course, the thing we’ve all been waiting for, the book! The book of this month it ‘Love, Hate & Other Filters’ by Amira Ahmed.
I really loved the book and the items that were in it! I cannot wait for future boxes, and will definitely be ordering them!
